Swachh Survekshan 2019 results are out on March 06, 2019 and Jodhpur did not perform well in this again. Why the Dream of 100% Swachh Jodhpur is still not achieved. Let’s have a brief look at this survey and who is responsible for the delay for 100% Swachh Jodhpur and Swachh Rajasthan.
The Swachh Survekshan was started in the year 2016 by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in aim to make the India open defecation free country and cleanliness was the paramount topic of this Survekshan. The Swachhta Survekshan comes under the campaign “Swachh Bharat Mission” which is handled by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and is one of the world’s largest cleanliness survey till date.
Started in the year 2016 with only 73 cities only, this year the survey reaches to 4,237 cities with the massive participation by the citizens. The Swachh Survekshan 2019 was completed only in 28 days, and it was a completely digitised and paperless survey.
In the fourth edition of this survey, the participating cities have uploaded over 4.5 lakhs documents. The Survekshan outreach via social media was over 4 crores, making it one of the biggest campaigns presented ever on social media. There were several challenges opened for the public through social networking sites like #GarvHai, #JholaChallange, #MyGreatHabbit, #SwachhSurvekshan2019.

Swachh Survekshan 2019 Results
The first in the row to win this competition is the city of Madhya Pradesh – Indore. Indore earned the tag of the cleanest city in the country, the second in the row is Ambikapur (Chattisgarh) and third is Mysuru (Karnataka). New Delhi on number 5, Navi Mumbai on number 7, Jaipur on number 44.
In the cleanliness survey 2019, the ranking of other cities of Rajasthan is as follows- Udaipur 137, Alwar 186, Sikar 204, Pali 213, Tonk 215, Gangapur 221, Sujangarh 237, Jodhpur 243 and Jhunjhunu 245.
Big cities of Rajasthan state have performed poorly in the ranking. Udaipur has reached the 137th position straight from 85th position in the last ranking. Similarly, Jodhpur slipped from 188th position to 243rd position, whereas Kota has moved from 101st place to 302nd position of the last year Swachh Survekshan 2018 ranking.

Jodhpur the second largest city in the state of Rajasthan has secured the rank number 243 in this survey. If compared from the last year Jodhpur didn’t perform well. Last year, Jodhpurs rank in Swachh Survekshan was 188 which was better than this years.

What to do for 100% Swachh Jodhpur?
In order to ensure significantly higher levels of participation from all citizens then state and city levels campaigns need to being promoted in order to educate citizens about the objectives of the survey. The campaign involves the construction of toilet pits, promoting sanitation programmes in the rural areas, cleaning streets, roads and changing the infrastructure of the country to lead the country ahead.
In an interview when asked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about Swachh Survekshan 2019 he said “Even if one thousand Mahatma Gandhi’s arrive, (if) one lakh Narendra Modi arrive, (even if) all Chief Ministers come together, and (even if) all governments come together, even than the dream of cleanliness cannot be achieved. It won’t be possible. But, if 125 crore Indians come together, this will soon become a reality”.
We, the proud Jodhpuries, need to focus and work hard to take our Jodhpur city to improve its ranking quickly in next “Swachh Survekshan 2020” survey. In this direction, many groups of residents, organization, and others in Jodhpur has taken it upon themselves to keep their Blue City clean through innovative means.
Together with governing bodies, we have to prove that we are good Samaritans who are trying to take their city to the top may ensure that the city improves its rankings quickly. So it has to be the people in general who can make any campaign for SWACHH CITY successful by all the means.
