August 5, 2018, is being celebrated as Friendship Day. On the first Sunday of August, people come together to celebrate Friendship day with their BFFs. “True Friendship”, “Happy Friendship Day” a term who would have come across millions of times may be on social media or on the graffiti, maybe in the quotes on the cards or gifts. And we think we know What that is, history and significance of this day and Who is that special person!
The first person you would like to talk about crazy things in your life, the person with whom you don’t hesitate to share your favourite things, the person with whom you would like to travel across the world, the person with whom you would have shared your seat in school, the first person who strikes to your mind after reading all this is actually the one! Yes, the bestest friend.
Friends are the family we choose, we meet millions of people all the world in our lifetime a very few remains there in your heart. A friend being the outsider is not necessary, it could be your parents, grandparents, siblings, your pets.
Youth don’t like it when they have been given the history of anything, but here if we forget about the person who gave this brilliant idea of thanking your friend is Dr Ramon Artemio Bracho, he declared the first Sunday of August as World’s Friendship day.
We have the bond of friendship in Indian history, from being Krishna- Arjun in Mahabharat to the Karna-Duryodhana to Draupadi-Krishna. How can one forget the most famous and loved tale of Krishna-Sudama, the friendship which was pure, according to Indian Mythology the day when Sudama came to see Kanha Ji and travelled all the way to Dwarka, is the day called Friendship day.

As seen the bond of Friendship is never been new, we have inherited this from our Mythology. The only thing that has changed is the way we celebrate this day. Earlier it used to be bands and gifts which we used to carry a day before in our schools so that we could celebrate this day with our best school friends, now the trend of bands, cards, gifts have vanished, people prefer texts, posts, stories to wish their friends, the reason why this day has become more of a formality than of a cherished day.
The best thing you can gift to your friend this friendship’s day is your time, today is Sunday, take them outside, enjoy and relive all the previous moments of your schools, colleges, the past which was good in their presence, or just crash in their houses talk to them make it a chit-chat day, make them feel special, thank them as they have been always there with you whenever you needed them, and even if they didn’t forgive them, forget all the bitter memories and restart with the positive ones.

Take your friends out for lunch or dinner, make the best of that dinner, eat good food and relive old memories and create the new ones.

We are busy in our daily lives but we can take an hour or so to make a card for our friends, be more emotional than artistic amidst card making.

Spending time in a long drive is the best. Go take your friends on long rides and enjoy street food.
