Today many children in India are out of school and far away from education, surrounded by poverty and despair; they are fighting a daily battle for their survival. Understanding the need of education for underprivileged children for having a better and develop Nation, Dr. Jyotsana Singh Shekhawat and Mr. Bhupendra Singh Rathore with a motto ” Together we can help a child, bring change and make it last” established KILKARI.
KILKARI established as a scion of Empowering Humanity Society under the guidance of self-groomed educationist Mr. Bhupendra Singh Rathore and an excellent academician, administrator and receiver of two gold medals in academics at University level, Dr. Jyotsana Singh Shekhawat. She was awarded the ‘International Education Excellence Award’ by International Business Council in the year 2015. She is also the receiver of Jodhpur’s prestigious award ‘Veer Durgadas Rathore Samman’.
Established in 2015, with class Nursery, KILKARI is an initiative of Empowering Humanity Society which aims to provide education to the underprivileged children on NO FEE basis. The parents of these children are either illiterate or have had no formal education – hence, the sons and daughters represent first-time learners.
Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life. Doubtless, it is the most powerful catalyst for social transformation. Realizing this, Mr. Bhupendra Singh Rathore and Dr. Jyotsana Singh Shekhawat, beginning in the corridors of education, adopted a lifecycle approach of development, focusing its interventions on children, and the larger community.
Inspired by the Montessori, KILKARI is an evening small school made up of people committed to the idea that all children should receive free, quality education. Having gained their confidence, the school is now functioning, with almost 20 such children, creating parent awareness towards education, enrolling underprivileged children, providing free transportation, free uniforms, free books, and stationery.
The sole objective of KILKARI is to take education beyond literacy, strive to make children speak English fluently, adept in computer skills and help them realize their potential through moral education. Children at KILKARI are given the opportunity to work independently or in groups, make the decision, learn to manage their emotions and develop strong communication skills and sensitizing them about the virtue of healthy living and basic hygiene.
KILKARI is nurturing the unique potential of each child by encouraging talent in a variety of fields through a diverse curriculum and a range of extracurricular options. KILKARI is that platform where apart from free quality education focus is also given on a child’s extracurricular activities which included different competitions, Celebration of special days such as Diwali, Holi, Eid, Christmas, etc., sports week and different Inter-Class activities. Children are offered special gifts on special occasions as a token of love and care by the society.
As it completes 3 years of working, KILKARI has successfully reached out to more than 30 beneficiaries children of Jodhpur. The KILKARI program for the young child is based on self-directed non-competitive activities where children naturally develop healthy and positive self-image. All the outstanding work and campaigns of the society starting from Rakhi celebration with the Army officers at Army Cantt to visiting old age homes and orphanages to HIV children celebration on Children’s Day is heartwarming and absolutely commendable.
