Good News For MBM Engineering College: No More ‘NO ADMISSION’

There is an good news for MBM Engineering College Jodhpur, as All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has dropped the state’s oldest technical education institute from the list of ‘No Admission’ category after Rajasthan technical education department assured the body of fulfilling deficiencies as soon as possible.

Mugneeram Bangur Memorial Engineering College or MBM Engineering College is the oldest technical institution of Rajasthan and one of the oldest engineering colleges in India established in 1951 by the Government of Rajasthan. It is situated in Jodhpur and is spread over a 62 acres campus.

It is a reputed institution and is considered one of the best engineering colleges of Rajasthan, but it was recently tainted and forced to declare Zero Academic session earlier this year when the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) found it unfit for providing technical education to the students due to widespread deficiencies.

The college was barred from taking admissions in the upcoming academic sessions after in-depth inspection by the AICTE inspection team. The most highlighting deficiency was the low faculty to student ratio. The AICTE says that college is running without 70% of required faculties. There were only 53 teachers against the required no of 236 teachers. AICTE’s inspection team also found gross deficiencies in the college from poor maintenance of buildings and poor research work. This was the first time in the history that a Government College in Rajasthan was found unfit and was given this strict order.

However, this decision was taken back and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has dropped MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur from the list of ‘No Admission’ category after Rajasthan technical education department assured the body of fulfilling deficiencies as soon as possible. The official order of cancellation will be issued by April 30, 2018. State Government has come to the rescue and has grant funds for expediting the maintenance work which will be completed soon and the recruitment process has been initiated.

Meanwhile, college officials are working on ways to rope in guest faculties till the fresh recruits join the college. College is taking this as a wake-up call and a lesson to work hard and restore the quality and reputation for which it has been known for in previous years.
